Why did you chose to work for OCE?

The first person I talked to at One Coin English was the recruiter. The recruiter was very friendly and I was able to ask the recruiter any questions related to the job position and the school itself. She was able to answer all my questions professionally and honestly. Having various different job experiences, good and bad, I knew after meeting One Coin’s recruiter that I would be in good hands.

After being able to observe classes and to meet students and teachers, I immediately saw that the school is based on a stress-free work environment. One Coin English is like a big family to me where everybody is treated with love and support. It’s always great to make new friends, especially for me who never lived in a country where I couldn’t speak the native language of residence.
To conclude it’s not always easy to adapt to a new work environment, especially if you don’t have any previous experience at the position. The Managers, mentors, teachers and staff are always there to assist you.

Having all the support that One Coin English offers allows me to go to work and to go home with a smile on my face. I couldn’t be happier with my decision. The only regret I have is that I didn’t find the school sooner from the time I moved to Japan.

Why did you chose to become a teacher?

Having a very international background and having the opportunity to travel. I was able to meet people from various countries with different cultural backgrounds. One day on my travel to Hawaii I was able to meet a very beautiful young lady, who I can now proudly call my wife. The crazy story about my wife and I, is that we got married after 3 months from the day of our first encounter.

Actually that’s not the craziest part!

My wife is a Japanese national who didn’t speak any English at that time. And the only Japanese word I knew was Arigatou(Thank you). However after several months of hand gestures, body language and google translator I was able to increase her English speaking and writing level. It’s an amazing feeling to see that my wife was able to learn English through me. Seeing the joy I brought her, when she`s able to communicate in English with my friends and family is a feeling that I will cherish forever.

Making the decision to live in Japan gave me the opportunity to be a teacher, who have the same struggle such as my wife when we first met. As I mentioned before that feeling I will cherish forever. Now that I`m a teacher, I’m able to help others whom may have thought English was impossible to learn and bring joy them, when they accomplish their goals in learning English.
When did you make a difference in a students life?

When did you make a difference in a student’s life?

I actually had a higher level student who was an English/Japanese translator for a big Japanese company. Her English was pretty good, however every time she had to do direct translations on live TV, she would get nervous and forget words. She was on the edge of getting demoted, which was causing her depression and to be even more nervous every time when she had to do a live translation.

The great thing about having a very international background is that I understood the problem she was having. English wasn’t her mother tongue and being face to face with a native speaker made her nervous before even interacting with them. I was able to help her conquer her fear by showing her that I am also human just like any of the other English native speakers. She took my classes frequently and after several months she was able to get promoted and her company gave her the opportunity to go to the US for the summer. She told me that she felt really hopeless until she met me. She was very grateful for coming across One Coin English and to have me as her teacher.
